ABOUT UA/UNIFORM ADVANTAGE BRANDS
At UA Brands, we’re changing the way healthcare and culinary professionals get dressed. For over 40 years, we’ve created stylish, high-performance uniforms designed to empower those on the front lines. Our apparel breaks the mold—combining brilliant design with real-world function. Join a team that values creativity, impact, and community, and help us redefine uniforms that don’t conform.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Join a dynamic, global organization as an Associate Technical Designer, where you'll play a key role in bringing apparel concepts to life. You'll ensure garments meet fit, function, and performance standards from design through production, collaborating closely with internal teams and external partners. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate technical specifications, supporting design updates, reviewing construction and patterns, and managing sample deliveries and distribution.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
  • Communicate with in-house teams and overseas vendors regarding garment specifications, including sending tech packs, measuring samples and size sets against approved specs, providing fit and functionality comments, and overseeing resubmissions until final approval. Maintain an organized archive of prototype samples.
  • Execute complete design specification packages in PLM, including flat and technical sketches, construction details, measurement specs with tolerances, garment grading, and graphic/label placements.
  • Collaborate with team members to align on design direction and fit intent. Build and maintain style blocks in PLM to ensure consistent sizing and fit within brands and across categories. Ensure designs align with factory capabilities and cost targets.
  • Partner with the in-house patternmaker to verify that sample quality matches technical specifications. Review patterns for fit, balance, and construction details, and clarify any specialized design or construction requirements.
  • Conduct fit sessions on live models and/or dress forms to assess fit, balance, and construction. Document changes by pinning, photographing, and annotating updates for inclusion in tech packs.
  • Manage the sample development process from concept to final production approval. Create and distribute WIP tracking spreadsheets in Excel, and coordinate with all teams to meet calendar deadlines.
  • Support the design team by updating sketches, adding colorways and materials to the Bill of Materials in PLM, and providing any other necessary construction or descriptive details.
  • Collaborate daily with quality control, production, and vendors to ensure consistent quality, efficient processes, and timely delivery.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • 2–5 years of experience in apparel design or product development
  • Advanced proficiency with PLM systems, including creating and managing Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Solid understanding of the apparel product development lifecycle, from concept through production
  • Hands-on experience in apparel and trim development, including collaboration with factories and suppliers (strongly preferred)
  • Knowledge of garment construction, manufacturing processes, and quality control standards
  • Proficiency in creating and updating accurate technical sketches
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively
  • Proactive mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and the ability to escalate complex issues when needed
  • Strong work ethic and flexibility to take on additional projects while managing core responsibilities
  • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Apparel Design, Product Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
